About Karamat Husain Muslim Girls PG College, Lucknow
Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G. College, Lucknow, a Muslim Minority Institution is one of the leading women's colleges of Northern India. The College was established in the year 1912 by Justice Maulvi Syed Karamat Husain, a pioneer of women's education in pre-independent India. He founded the college with the avowed object of advancing the cause of education among Muslim women, but the portals of the college have always remained open to students belonging to all communities without any distinction of caste and creed.
Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G. College is run by the Society Association for the Education of Muslims in India. Born in 1940 at Tanda, an Industrial Town of the then Faizabad district and after having held many administrative posts under U.P. State Govt. lastly retired as Joint Secretary to Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 1998. Soon after retirement, he was unanimously elected Manager of Karamat Hussian Muslim Girls' P.G. College, Lucknow, the most prestigious women's college of the Muslim Minority Community in Northern India which caters from Nursery to Post Graduation. Karamat Husain Muslim Girls P.G. The College has the distinction of achieving a B+ in its first accreditation by NAAC. It runs B.A., B.Sc. & B.Com. in all streams and M.A. in English Literature. All undergraduate courses are now following the semester system w.e.f. 2018-19 as per the directives of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow. The College has the distinction of running a B.Ed. course with a quota of 50% seats for minority girls. The B.Sc., B.Ed., B.Com. & M.A. is running under the Self Financing Scheme for which no grant is received from the government. The faculty members in each discipline are qualified and experienced. The college is spread over a vast campus in the heart of the city of Lucknow. It has a huge building with two well-maintained Hockey Playgrounds. The college has the privilege of having been adopted by the Sports Authority of India, New Delhi (SAI as a Hockey training centre for girls under its CS Scheme. A new double-storied building houses the canteen on the ground floor and a common room for the students on the first floor. The students enjoy the facility of indoor games in the common room during their free periods. The College has a hostel facility for students. Laboratories: The college has a well-equipped laboratory for the Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Education departments. Besides being fitted with fans, tube lights, hanging lights, blackboards, taps, sinks, exhausts, ovens, burners, and fire extinguishers, they are also equipped with instruments and gadgets necessary to perform the experiments as per the curriculum. The students are divided into batches for better management. If a student has missed a particular experiment due to her absence from college, she is encouraged to join a different group to make up for the practical class she has missed. Sometimes, separate practical classes are taken for such students at a later date. Practical and revision tests are taken regularly. Models and utility charts are used in the teaching process. All the necessary types of equipment are systematically arranged for the students.
